The Center for conservative studies is a non-profit organization working in Serbia. It is the first ideologically right wing nongovernmental organization in this country.
It was founded in 2004, and the number of potentially interested people grew and became more defined during the following couple of years. In that period members of the centre gradually developed and promoted the system of values that unites them, by acting on their own, or in cooperation with other similar organizations. Our biggest achievement is change of the Citizenship Law of Republic of Serbia in Autumn 2007.
Members of the centre are trying to represent and promote principles and values that characterize the tradition of the European right and its conservative ideology through series of intellectual, practical and PR activities.
CKS is a combination of an
- Educational institution, which for the first time in Serbia displays and clarifies history and intellectual principles of conservative tradition,
- Expert think-tank with clear capacities for creation of laws, for improving of actual legislative projects and for the monitoring of their application,
- Politically orientated non-governmental organization that openly promotes modern right-orientated program which before us didn't exist in Serbia.
CKS follows the best parts of the rich Serbian right-orientated tradition, as well as the heritage of enormous energy that was awaken on the Serbian right spectrum in the beginning of the last decade and in the beginning of this one, but then dried out due to the lack of adequate institutions and organs for its creative articulation.
CKS and its web-site www.desnica.info are therefore trying to become a focal point of a new wave of enthusiasm that was born in Serbia in the end of this decade. This portal is trying to cover the activities of other significant right-orientated non-governmental organizations, institutions, media and individuals in Serbia, and to give basic insight in the development of the global conservative thought and various activities of right parties and think thanks in different countries.
CKS continues to fight the communist spirit and practice in Serbia. The neo communist spirit is growing stronger by creating the system of destructive monopoles, preventing competition in all areas, supporting negative selection, destroying national institutions, family, local communities, suffocating the freedom of speech, and by threatening the democracy once again, while at the same time it prevents the justified restitution of the stolen private property.
Nevertheless, the Center considers that it is necessary to change the method of the fight against communism. On its nihilism we should answer with creativity, with inventive reinterpretation and careful use of heritage; with cooperation, responsibility, ethics and a system of values that focuses on family, moral, religion and fair entrepreneurship. This is the only way in which, with enormous love, work, faith and readiness to serve, we can be able to renew our country, to fill it with the holiness of life, to open an interethnic and interreligious dialogue and to help reintegrate our numerous compatriots that live outside the Serbian borders.
